This blog is going to be mostly about tea. It is going to have random ramblings of mine on types of tea i have tried and what i describe them as tasting like, and how much i like them.
I might also put some other things on here as well. Well see depending on how many people find and read this.
That being said, I want to tell yall about a great oolong tea i bought. First off go buy The Story of Tea, by Mary Lou Heiss and Robert J. Heiss. It is a great book that tells you everything you would ever want to know about tea and makes you realize just how varied teas can be. It's amazing how one type of leaf can taste so different. You can buy the book at http://www.cooksshophere.com/ or you can just go to borders like i have and buy it.
Now onto the tea. I bought some Tieguanyin, Clear & Fragrant http://www.cooksshophere.com/products/tea/oolong/tieguanyin_clear-frag.htm
This tea tastes very fresh and what i can only describe as floral. It has a very light colored infusion, and you can smell and taste undertones of fragrant flowers, especially in the cup. This tea doesnt taste like a green tea however, because it is more filling and has the flavor of an oolong obviously. I have to say that this tea is an amazing tea, and you can actually see the crimson tinged edges of the leaves after brewing, because initially the leaves are rolled up into small balls.
I forgot to tell the brewing method. What I do when I brew tea is to usually brew enough for 16 oz of water. I used two tablespoons of the tea in my tetsubins basket, and let the water get to 200 degrees. I then let the tea steep for 5 minutes for the first infusion, and then 10-15 for the second and then 20 or so for the third steeping.
This tea is a great tea in my opinion, and has become one of my favorites.
